After a lifetime of freshwater matchangling I gave it up during the river decline and had a 10 year break having no interest in the carp puddles .

While working I met a lad Mark Harrison who introduced me to sea beach angling and after a few trips i was back into fishing but an entirely differant approach was needed .

I had to start learning all new diferant tactics , casting styles, rods, reels ,tide times, baits infact it was like starting from scratch as I used to think you just turned up and fished ,but after 3 years I now realise there is more to it than meets the eye.

While learning how to beach fish ,I realise that differant fish arrive on our coast at differant times of the year and more of a species arrive at certain beaches more than others .also tide sizes make a differance to which venue you should visit

The Holderness coast is around 75 miles away and it takes me around 1.5 hours to get to the Holderness Coast which starts at Bridlington and runs down to Spurn point .

The problem with living inland is getting a good bait supplier altho there are plenty on ebay the cost of delivery makes it very expensive.

There are good bait suppliers in Hull ans as you travel thro Hull you can order bait and pick it up during shop hours .The problem is if the tide is early and you need to arrive early or if the tide is late and as the beach generaly fishes better during dark especially during summer a later set off time might make you have to go earlier than needed to catch the shop open.

There are lots of sea angling clubs which fish matches every week end and maybe in a short time when i have improved I will join as there is nothing like competing .

I have met some great sea anglers during my first few years and watching them display there skills is something else . to see some of the best lads cast is unbelievable and i reckon that is the main key to success .

Differant baits are used but the most popular are blow lugworm in the winter and Peeler Crab in the summer

During the 3 years I have been Beach casting I have caught plenty of diffferant species

These days with phone and digital cameras it easy to capture the image of your fish not like when i was match fishing where i have hardly any photos

I return most fish especially when they are clean hooked altho i do take Cod when they are deep hooked as with the size of the hooks and wheight of the lead dragging them in a lot of damage will have been caused to their insides  but like i said i always return clean lip hooked fish.

As i nearly always travel alone most photos are of fish without me ( billy no mates )

here are a few photos of the spcies i have caught

Cod

Bass

Whiteing

Smoothound

Dover Sole

Flatties

Pouting

Skate

Dogfish

Later i will add what i know of lead and rig types ,and if i dont know I will ask some top anglers whom have helped me thro these early years .
